In February, 1999, a group of people started what was then called Celebrate Recovery (CR) as a vehicle for getting the message of hope out to hurting people. Bugsy and Susan King had a passion for helping others find their freedom in Christ. For the Kings, Christ's message of hope had delivered them from raging addiction and codependency. They wanted others in search of a Higher Power to have the opportunity to wrestle with what it means to be a follower of Christ in the context of persistent and painful hurts, habits and hang-ups. A team was formed, and an 8-week pilot project was begun. NorthStar is still going strong. Spirituality and Recovery Groups, Bible studies, seminars and conferences have been added as God has provided the people with a need to know and the leadership to facilitate groups in search of spiritual answers to many of life's tough problems.
